Up Coming Event in October

Ghana Youth Day 2012 will be hosted jointly by The Ghana High Commission UK and Tullow Oil.
Date: Saturday, 6th of October
Venue: The Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Town Hall Approach, Tottenham, N15 4RX
The day will be broken down into segments with workshops delivered by behavioural consultants from Suban Solutions and entertainment by leading UK urban artists Fuse ODG, Lyrical Soldier, Mista Silva, Dentaa and Simply Andy. What is more, cultural displays and performances will be on hand to add to the Ghanaian flavour of festivities.
Other notable attendees will include positive role models of Ghanaian culture who are considered ‘achievers' from our community who can offer career advice so that the Youth may find similar success.
Ghana Youth Day is being proudly sponsored by Tullow Oil Pc and supported by The Ghana Channel, Vox Africa, Ghana Union, Noble Friends, Suban Solutions, Akwaaba UK, Access Media, GUBA, JV2i, Active Promotions, Me FiRi Ghana and Ghanaian Londoners. These community groups and organisations have come together as they recognise the need for an outlet in which critical dialogues can occur between peers, role models and parents alike.
The theme for the event is ‘Our Youth, Our Society, Our Future’ as we recognise the importance of young people to the future of our community. The negative portrayal of young people and opportunities available to them in the UK, are limited but Ghana Youth Day is not only a declaration, but reinforcement of our faith in the Youth. The Ghana High Commission UK is taking an active role to prevent any further losses of young life and hopes that it can depend upon the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community as a whole to assist in its cause to do so.
Kobby Mensah-Kumah, chairman of the Ghana Youth Day Organising Committee says: "This event was borne out of the sadness felt in the Ghanaian community as the lives of our precious sons and daughters are being taken. We want to bring peace back into our community and believe that this is a step in the right direction for doing so."
